I’m finishing up a book by Cass Sunstein call Going to Extremes and in it he points out that people self segregate their information input and thus as they gather together, they self select into a tighter circle, thus eventually excluding any moderates in the group and they naturally trend towards a deeper extremism. A great if disturbing read. It’s helping me to make more sense of the insanity that has become the modern right. (by the way, he hits the nutjobs on the left too. So it’s not just a partisan hack job)
