re: #28 Targetpractice, Worst of Both Worlds

It was the motivation, but it was more than that. It was, as Summer said here and downstairs, about “setting an example,” about putting “uppity” black folk “in their place.” He wanted to change the narrative, from an organization that has prided itself on tackling racism towards black people calling on the Tea Party to do something about the racists in their own ranks to that of a bunch of black hypocrites saying one thing but practicing another. He wanted to, if not silence them, then at least shame them into not raising a hand to “their betters.”

I think there’s an aspect of that, especially for Breitbart, who I have no problem saying I think really enjoys trying to screw over black folks.

I also think, though, that a lot of this comes out of the basic Tea Party mode, modeled on right-wing pundits like Coulter and Limbaugh, of vicious, angry attack on anyone who dares question or critique them. That aspect takes on racial overtones, but basically, they just fucking hate anyone who calls them on their shit.
