Yes, the secret service is required to investigate. Even if it’s not a serious actionable threat or active plot. That’s why comedians can’t make jokes about assassinating presidents, blog comments about presidential assassination threats are investigated too. The same rules apply to liberals as conservatives. You can’t make even joking threats about killing people under secret service protection.
