Indeed. I saw the new RPG-type book for 40K, featuring the Empire’s version of Federal law enforcement. Interesting in that it actually has a head enforce who believes some crimes shouldn’t be subject to capital punishment, at least in theory. For those who don’t follow 40K, this is what little mercy can be seen in it: “Perfection belongs only to divinity and only the Emperor is divine. To believe otherwise is heretical pride. So if all men deserve rebuke, and all rebukes were lethal, what then would remain of humanity?”
