Yes, it is their right. I also have not called them “stupid.” I have said that when one casts a vote for a representative, one has assigned that representative their voice. To later say “but not me” and try to distance from the position one voted for is disingenuous.

OR, it could be that no one candidate will reflect every single one of my positions, and so I vote for the best possible one in my opinion (or in the case of the recent election, the one whose dishonesty affected his family not his constituents, rather than the one whose dishonesty affected his constituents but not his family).
Sometimes it’s just not much of a choice. And yes, I will feel free to distance myself from positions I do not like, regardless of who I voted for.
