I tried to get my grandmother’s biscuit recipe once but, she did it by feeling.

Had lunch with some folks today, and this topic of trying to get recipes from mom and grandma came up.

One of the folks there said he tried to get his grandma’s fruitcake recipe, and she flat out told him she couldn’t write it down! she had no clue what she did.

So they talked her into making notes the next time she made the fruitcake, and everybody got a copy of that recipe.

Then somebody put together a family recipe book, then the church did one … and when they compared all 3 of grandma’s fruitcake recipes, they discovered there were three completely different versions.

Lotsa people used to be able to cook “by touch”.
I’ve never been able to.
