Seem to remember that during the immigration battle that GWB set off a year or so ago (or was it 2 years ago?), that comments by politicians indicated that the overwhelming amount of telephone calls received (apparently continuous jamming of phone lines) were influential.

If somehow you could get 1 million people to all telephone their Representatives and Senators on a single day, maybe it would make a statement?
