Jade Helm 15 recently triggered something only slightly less remarkable than it appears: Rick Perry acting like the adult in the room.

Perry to Texas: Stop Being Insane

Perry reminds of Jindal in this instance. A while back Jindal said the gop needed to stop being the “stupid party”, sounding like the sober adult in the room. Of course Jindal then proceeded to say all kinds of stupid far right shit about religion, climate change, evolution, secularism, and anything else left of Teabagistan.

Here Perry momentarily seems like the lone rational Republican, as he dismisses concerns over Jade Helm 15. But when you read his actual quote you realize how full of shit he is too

“But the military is something else. Our military is quite trustworthy. The civilian leadership, you can always question that, but not the men and women in uniform.”

A society that can’t even “question the men and women in uniform” has essentially blinded itself and abdicated responsibility in the name of misguided patriotic deference. Perry is just another mindless tool. Like so many other neo-conservatives, he never really met a war he didn’t like.
