Which movie? Assume you mean 2001: A Space Odessey. While far from being my favorite piece of cinema, one thing which I appreciate about that movie is the more realistic portrayal of the issues of space flight and science. A great deal of “science fiction” today really ought to be labeled fantasy, IMO.
