Not saying this is true for everyone. Some on the left still hate Israel and say they stole the lands and blah blah blah. I’m mainly referring to what some might consider edge cases.

I wouldn’t, though. I would say that those ‘edge cases’ have considerable influence in the left-wing and progressive communities, considerable funding, and have managed to make their agenda part of the agenda of many, many other organizations.

It is still not unusual for there to be serious debate in some circles about whether the state of Israel should continue to exist.

So I think many of us react the way we do, not because OMG, we can’t handle any opposing viewpoints, but because we see people parroting bad information from bad sources, and thinking that they’re being terribly groundbreaking to suggest that ‘maybe the truth lies somewhere in the middle’.

And elsewhere, we see people deliberately passing horrible information, and calling for the boycott and ultimate destruction of Israel.
