Well, to be fair, the U.S. only sought that for “legitimacy”. I promise you, had there been no Sec Council resolution (1440, I believe), Iraq, Afghanistan and all that followed would have still happened. The U.N. resolution merely gave Bush some leverage.

Had the U.N. actually taken part in the actions resulting from their resolution, you would have a point. However, as is their Modus Operandi, they simply resolve and resolve, but never act on their resolutions. They are like that person you know that makes New Years resolutions every year, but never actually follows through.

Eventually, you stop caring about their promise that THIS year it will be different.
