It appears to me that this comes down to tension between three different groups who are against the jihadists but for perhaps different motivations.

1). Right wing racist extremists who see the problems caused by Islamic extremists and emphasize the racial elements involved.

2). Fundamentalist Christians who see the problems caused by Islamic extremists and emphasize their own religion program as the solution.

3) Secular humanists who see the problems caused by Islamic extremists and see it as evidence of the problems caused by religion in the world.

Group #1 would love to bring groups #2 and #3 aboard—in order to advance an insidious agenda that goes far beyond the fight against jihadists—but neither Group #1 or Group #2 wants anything to do with Group #1. Group #3 tries to tar Group #2 by refusing to acknowledge the ways in which they differ from Goup #1. Group #2 thinks everybody else needs to accept Jesus. Especially the gays.

Basically I don’t think anybody has really kept their noses clean here. Or their eyes on the ball.
