The removal stage of tossing his ass out of office is effectively run as a trial and observes much of the decorum of a criminal trial. As such, we have to bear in mind that just saying “We think he’s an asshole so he’s guilty” is not a valid prosecutorial tool. Without some evidence of willful action on Trump’s part, he could conceivably toss the whole mess on an underling and skate. And in such a scenario, the DNC would be where the GOP was in ‘98.
