From a now closed sandwich shop in downtown Pittsburgh, the Meal On a Bun.
8” roll. grilled sweet Italian sausage, grilled green peppers and onions, cheese, two fried eggs, french fries, sprinkled with oregano.
My boss referred to it as the “clogged artery on a bun” — but still ate them. ;)
Once Primanti’s got a name for putting fries *on* the sandwich a bunch of other places in Pittsburgh started doing it.
A “breakfast sandwich” we had in Ireland on vacation: Irish bacon, sausage, fried eggs, and cheese, loaded onto a bun. Those Irish sure know how to do it right.
