He somehow thinks that public execution would deter these guys? Is he paying attention to what actually happened to them? Why does he think they’re afraid of dying? Unless they’re completely delusional— in which case the public execution wouldn’t work— they had to know a likely end was being gunned down, because that happens to a lot of people who do shit like this.

Public execution would just heighten their martyrdom. Better they spend decades rotting under 23 hour/day solitary lockdown in a super-max prison.
