Part of what made the Star Wars Ep 1-3 bad was seeing Lucas squander Natalie Portman’s talents as an actress. Though to a certain degree right now I view Lucas as a hack with a good visual talent who in a way got lucky.

Star Wars… well, my son loves Attack of the Clones & Return of the Jedi best of the six, and loves the current Clone Wars toon (Lucas must be hands off on that though - it actually is well written and makes you care about Anakin as a character.)

His biggest lucky break was when he got the first draft of Empire from Leigh Brackett shortly before her death. It gave them a basis that allowed them to build the best movie of the bunch because she’d been writing great space opera her whole life. Without that, I’m not sure there would have been a third movie much less 4 more.
