I think it’s a little obtuse. The BNP certainly capitalized on spending scandals but they don’t have a fiscally conservative agenda. Same with Geert, VB, FN, FPO or any of the other creeps. They’re appeal is not about economics.

BNP and all the others you name are aprties of the far right.

The ‘right’ which has done well in these elections are for example the Tories here in the UK (who got a few more than two seats!), the governing parties in Germany, France, Italy - and the parties who stood against the new-labelled former communists in the Eastern European countries.

Subsuming all those parties in the same category as the BNP etc - that is going a bit far!
