I don’t think there’s anything unethical about it, but it does seem like a sweet deal for the Chiefs.
One of the radio guys was saying that Detroit has the 1st, 20th and 33rd pick (all ahead of the pick the Pats traded for ((34th)) and he was flabbergasted that the Pats couldn’t have swung a better deal with them. Maybe the Pats rewarded Cassel by letting him avoid Motown.

And he probably leapt at the chance to still play under Scott Pioli, plus he probably figured that by the time he gets a chance to lead the Pats, his team will no longer be as dominant as they were. Moving to a team with a lot of potential and having a chance at the starting job was a smart move overall.
