I think the big problem for Republicans is going to be the recovering economy. By 2012 all those politicians who opposed bailing out the banks, stimulus, etc will be sunk if the economy recovers. Palin, Jindal, that dude from one of the Carolinas who tried (and failed) to reject stimulus money are probably going to look stupid. Newt’s going to be sunk from Tea Party associations. I think the best bet for 2012 is someone who’s out of the fray. Like the guy from Utah who took the ambassadorship to China.

If Rush gets his wish and Obama fails horribly then the GOP can be swept in by default, it won’t matter who they run.
