I understood what your argument was, but I needed to point out that the Cuban Revolution did not fit the same narrative as France and Russia. Unlike in those two nations, in Cuba the post-revolution tyrant was the revolution’s leader from its inception.

Communism wasn’t Castro et al’s goal. Deposing Batista was. The communist ideology as a means of egalitarianism came later. The inability of communism to actually provide the promises its proponents claimed was reality kicking the people in the gonads. The tyranny was a result of having the wrong person in the wrong position. The most effective leader in a rebellion is the worst leader after the rebellion.
