re: #421 b.d.(great patriot hostage)

So glad that Andrew Cuomo shot himself in the foot before the start of primary season.

It will have no effect on the outcome of the primary.

He’s on pace to handily win against Nixon. I have to give credit to Nixon to get Cuomo thinking about issues he’s long overlooked.

He’s got serious flaws - both in his signature issue of infrastructure, and on some other policies. Sticking with just infrastructure, he runs the MTA with an iron fist, and the failure to control construction costs means we are spending far more for transit upgrades than we should expect. It costs several times more to build subways in NYC than anywhere else in the world. It’s not about complexity underground either - because Paris and London are older than NYC and yet their rail projects cost less than half per km rail built. Get our costs in line with European average and we could build more than 2x as much - get 2A subway done in a fraction of the time.

Instead of working with DeBlasio - they’re attacking and undermining each other at the same time - paddling against each other when the city needs them to work together to get transit working.

His fixation on bridges and car travel has meant that we lost opportunity to do mass transit on the TZ Bridge (and I wont call it the Cuomo bridge either, and that’s as a fan of Mario). He also fudged the numbers to get that bridge built and we still don’t have a clear picture of how it will be paid back.

Then there’s the ongoing pension mess and rampant corruption across the legislature.

He could help there as well - but wont. He should be calling for a full time legislature that doesn’t allow any outside work, but it’s going nowhere.
