My dad and I trained as pyrotechnicians when I was in college and still lived in Indiana, to help run a show for a town that didn’t have one. He has a 3” mortar that he would occasionally shoot off on July 4. He got together with a new redneck wingnut friend to shoot off another show this year, which I’m sure was great to watch, and at least he’s trained, but yeesh.

Hopefully not with alcoholic refreshments. We had fireworks in our town for Heritage Days (mid-August). One year, my friend was watching the fireworks; he had a local TV show and was filming them. He was watching the pyro crew set up. They were drinking. He screened the video for the Fire Marshall. That crew was not back the next year.
