You have a strange idea of what constitutes an unmolested existence. If Charles or other opinion-makers criticize what they see as a significant part of our political actors detaching themselves from reality, does that constitute molesting? The radical right is not exempt from disparagement.

It’s not the criticism that unnerves me, it’s the idea that when the Right was in political power and the Radical Left was beating the war drum, that it was that Radical Left that were the main targets. And now, with the scenario reversed, it’s the Right that are the targets.

In other words, there’s a lunatic fringe on either side that comes to the surface, not when that side is in power, but when they are out. Politics is like wrestling: easier to score points from the bottom. But there should be equal condemnation from the non-fringe at all times, rather than giving the grease to the squeaky wheel.
