I think it’s too late for Romney to really take positions. By now, he’s spent so many months dithering that everyone knows his plan is just to sign whatever the fuck what he hopes is a GOP congress and senate send his way. And if the GOP doesn’t take the senate, he’ll just veto anything originating with the Democrats. He’s not running to be the leader of the GOP, he’s shown absolutely no desire to lead.

He’s running to be CEO of American, Inc. And he looks like he will, like the GOP promised, bring his experience at Bain with him to the White House, being virtually absent as anything other than a living autopen for whatever the Board (read: Congressional GOP) send his way. So long as he gets a paycheck, he’s not worried about the details.
