ATF never really let up on those B & B guys. They kept what screws were available tightened way past the intent of the law. When they went bankrupt (not wholly unrelated) I bought big at least for my humble budget. Some of the employees work at the range I help oversee. Quite a few interesting stories.

Hell hath no fury like a bureaucrat forced to back off. Sounds like the ATF was butthurt that the gun shop had fought back instead of groveling and so decided to punish it with layers of excessive investigation and process.

It curves back to an upthread discussion to note that actions like this are why many people hate federal agencies. Most people at such agencies do their jobs the right way, but there are a few ‘little tin god’ bullies and those bullies get more media attention than the decent employees, human nature being what it is.
