re: #428 thedopefishlives

I suppose that is true. My feline overlords are only 6 years old, after all. They’ve got some time to enjoy youth and crunch on their dry food.

My feline overlord is the meat eater of the family. He has acquired a particularly annoying habit of finding the Mrs. Fish’s box of chicken wings, opening it, and cleaning the leftover bones. He also likes cheese, and looks at me hungrily whenever I am snacking on string cheese or cheese curds. Basement Cat (the Mrs. Fish’s black, long-haired feline overlord) is all about potatoes. As for our outdoor furry companion, we haven’t really found anything yet that she considers a treat.

With younger cats I had issues with trash can raiding for chicken bones a few times as well. Potatoes and cheese are popular, as is cottage cheese. Younger cat likes corn and peas, especially if there is a little butter added (but I have seen unbuttered eaten as well).

Odder was the issue with bread (or rolls) in plastic bags. A few times I found bags of hamburger buns that had been dragged off of counters or tables and buns consumed by the bag being chewed/clawed open.

Not an issue now since neither cat has very good jumping ability. I’ll have to do some cat-proofing in the apartment once I bring in the next generation of FOs.
