It was. When people start tripping about skin color and style of music I usually have to end up saying look, some of the best Gospel musicians I’ve ever played with in my life were in that band. This is back when the larger churches still had real music staff - arrangers, composers, even a copyist, lots of ties to the LA entertainment community and such…played with them for 4 years. Unique experience.
