I dunno. I think that males, at least, are, in fact, somewhat predisposed to having multiple mates. Perhaps less so than in earlier human history, due to changes over time, but it’s fairly common in other types of animals.

Oh, sure, I agree with that. But I disagree with the idea that you can “solve” the problem by saying OK to mistresses/whatever, because I believe that men (to some extent) have a drive to go beyond whatever boundary is set.
