Agreed. Is someone with a YouTube channel a journalist? Is a citizen journalist a journalist? Look at the deference given to O’Keefe by lawmakers. Journos are not just ABC, CBS, NBC, et al, any longer.

That guy in FL who was driving like an idiot who crashed his truck, while the person video taping it, who was also acting foolish, and turned that video over to police who arrested the guy in the truck. Wouldn’t that be a form of citizen journalism?

And honestly, what is considered a journalist these days is really little more than a stenographer “printing” press releases.

I look at it like this. Where the big networks leave a vacuum, bloggers and live streamers and ordinary people with some kind of camera will fill it. then as should naturally follow-Equal protection under the law.

While authorities can create perimeters that require a pass, it’s on us ordinary folk to somehow get it done. I have talked my way onto a press vehicle or area a time or three. Lots of ordinary people with cameras made a big positive difference in Occupy.
