This was bound to happen, but they held out for maximum timing effect. Trump will not be able to play this down at the debates. Nor can any other GOP candidates distance themselves from it…the albatross around their necks is really starting to stink.

I noted last year that there’s just as much money to be made by a media outlet tearing down a candidate as there is building one up.

That said, the New York Times says they obtained the documents from people who have legal access to them.

I imagine the NYT is not dumb enough to fall into a trap where they could get sued into oblivion.
