I’m going to go out on a limb here and argue that the officer probably thought he was being a hero by jumping onto the hood and firing into that car. Once you’ve heard a hundred plus shots being fired, it is probably hard to tell who’s doing all the shooting. The officer probably thought the suspects had fired at somebody and he was probably full of fear and adrenaline, as opposed to an officer who shoots somebody in the back.
