Obama has committed more troops there. He made a sizable commitment— but warned that military presence alone wouldn’t be sufficient.

I have serious doubts about our ability to eliminate the Taliban there or improve the lives of ordinary Afghans though, no matter what we do.

BTW, now that Obama has sent so many more troops there and focussed his energies there, people on the right like Will are saying that we need to pull out.
I wonder why that would be?

I don’t know that a sizable commitment is the same as the right level of commitment, but certainly more is better than less.

While I share your concern regarding our ability to eliminate the Taliban and improve the lives of ordinary Afghans, if we quit then neither will be accomplished, guaranteed.

You’ll have to ask Mr. Will why he thinks the way he does. I don’t share his opinion.
