re: #422 doppelganglander

There was a story on Yahoo news the other day about a New Hampshire man who’s been out of work for months, who was thrilled to get a couple of months work with the census. The article went on to say that if you added discouraged workers, people whose unemployment has run out, and people working part time who want to be working full time to the official unemployment rate, it would be around 15.8%. In other words, about triple the official rate in NH and far higher than the official 9.4% nationally.

And people underemployed, working full time in generic jobs paying far less than what they were doing before.

Not to mention a LOT of people like me, doing mostly contract work for twenty years, who don’t show up on the stats when employed or unemployed.

Government stats on inflation and employment, have been increasingly cooked for about a generation now.
