It’s time to settle in for the long haul. Despite the regime’s attempts to crack down and crush the opposition, this is likely going to play out over the next few weeks and months. It will ebb and flow, but the regime is not going to resemble what it had been before.

Ahmadinejad may end up with far more power and control, exceeding even that of Khamenei. The Guardian Council may be no more.

Or, Mousavi and the opposition could topple the regime.

In any case, the veneer of democracy in Iran has been shattered by Ahmadinejad and Khamenei’s power play to grab the election through outright fraud.

Now, the regime is busy going after foreign nationals, including Brits, who they continue to blame for the ongoing disturbances in the country.

This, of course, comes from a regime that had no qualms about sending kids into minefields to blow them up so that the men with guns could get through. It’s also the same regime that funds and supports terrorist groups like Hamas and Hizbullah, both of which murder people with alarming regularity for standing in their way. This is a regime that cares nothing for its people, and the people have taken notice.
