Deficits are projected to remain two to three times higher than the largest deficits of the past for at least the next ten years, adding enormously to the nation’s total debt, and to it’s debt payments.It is a dramatic increase in deficit spending by any measure, relative to the past, and as noted debt service payments will shortly begin to approach total GDP, and will become unsustainable well before reaching that point, if they haven’t already.

I am not at all sanguine about the future. Spending needs to be cut, and cut drastically. Soon. Now.

I agree. [snaps fingers, points to hcr bill] We just cut planned spending for the next decade+. Not enough, but a start.

Glad we agree on the goal, even if you don’t believe that what we just did will move in that direction. Time will tell, indeed.
