Well it ain’t my usual thing but I’m willing to try, I cannot claim to speak at all to how any percentages of the teabaggers feel on any particular issue but then again neither can anyone else. I truly believe that many of them are just ordinary people that have fallen for being lied to consistently and repetitively. The majority of the older retired population do not use the internet regularly and if they use it at all it is for email and not for searching the newslinks to learn the truth about issues.

Yes there are common racists, white supremacists, klanners, and birchers amongst them but I do not for a minute believe that they are the majority. They are just using the others to once again gain their fifteen minutes in the spotlight and continue their increasingly futile battle to recruit new members.

It isn’t that the tea party is overtly and completely racist, they aren’t, what I have a problem with is their literature and speeches filled with “dog whistles.” Well that and the occasionally dropped comment that makes it obvious that they are aware of the racist component and willing to pay lip service to it in a limited way in order to keep that support active.

They think that they can lay down with the pigs without getting too dirty and are willing to do it to swell their numbers. That doesn’t make them actively evil it just makes them every bit as stupid as the GOP was when it thought it could pay lip service to the R.R. and the Theocrats without ever giving them any influence over the party.

I consider myself a liberal/progressive. But you couldn’t - at gunpoint - get me to offer up even a half-hearted defense of, like, Code-Pink or some of the more outlandish elements of that wing of the party.

And yet you got a whole shit ton of people on this board who are quick to jump all over a guy’s ass (as long as it’s not Charles, then they keep quiet) if he so much as makes even a passing negative reference to shit-bag orgy that is the Tea Party.
