No, that’s not what john Dickerson is saying. What he is saying is that the IRS as an agency deserves the hostile and disbelieving reaction it got from Chairman Ryan when it announced the Lerner emails had been lost. Dickerson makes the point that if a taxpayer tried to use the excuse the IRS is using to explain why she did not have a receipt from 5 years ago, the agency would act as if she was lying but at the same time is insisting it not be held to the same stringent standards for record keeping.
Oh I understand the point. I also understand that it’s just another diversion.
