I still don’t get why anyone who thinks they have a political future would want to be VP. Unless Biden flat out tells them that he’s not running for re-election in 2024, it still seems like the old proverbial bucket of warm piss. Why would anyone want to tie themselves entirely to someone else’s political fortunes?

I honestly think the Cheney/Biden profile - party elder statesman with likely no future political ambition is the smarter play. Of course, not sure how well that works when your nominee would be the oldest person ever to take the oath of office - which brings us back to the whole 1 term thing.

Biden already said he would not run for reëlection when he first announced. Originally that turned me off toward him, but in his case I now see it as potential to bring up a younger vibrant Democrat in 2024.

Plus, vice-Presidents have been elected President before.
