Muslims pray towards Mecca. They do not pray towards Jerusalem. The mosques there were not particularly special until they became a political focus with the birth of Israel. Everyone knows this. So of course on the Muslim end it is a political and Palestinian issue.

There can be more than one holy site for a religion. You’re wrong that it wasn’t very important before the birth of Israel. There’s no real other way to say it; it was an important holy site to Muslims since Saladin, at least. I don’t know why you think otherwise.

Honestly though, even if every Muslim in the world shouted that the Temple mount was theirs, it would not make it so any more than every Chinese claiming Big Ben.

The Dome of the Rock is theirs, though. Which is on the Temple Mount. So, in the end, it’s not as simple as ‘ours’ or ‘theirs’.
