Sarah Palin Derp of the Day

Obama the pussy-footer
Wingnuts • Views: 25,071

DERPWith finger firmly on the right wing pulse, Sarah Palin shares her alleged thoughts on the decision not to release photos of Osama bin Laden’s corpse.

Show photo as warning to others seeking America’s destruction. No pussy-footing around, no politicking, no drama;it’s part of the mission

That makes total sense, you betcha! People who blow themselves up on airplanes are going to be scared out of their wits by a picture of a corpse. Why won’t Obama stop pussy-footing around and just show the photo of the terrorist mastermind he hunted down, killed, and dumped in the ocean, sans all this drama?

Deep penetrating political analysis from Palin there. The same folks who have no problem sending kids to be suicide bombers, who carried out terror attacks around the world for years, are going to be warned off with a gory photo? After all, these are the same brutal thugs who have no problem broadcasting the murder of Daniel Pearl and others.

There are other rational reasons to consider the release - just as surely as there are those to not release the photo. This isn't one of them.

Idiotic comment from a brain dead idiot.

5 HappyWarrior  Wed, May 4, 2011 11:49:32am

And you know as well as I do if he had released the photos, she'd be bitching at him for that. I wouldn't mind seeing the photos either but if she thinks that displaying the photos is going to make any difference to the terrorists, she's nuts. These people are willing to kill themselves for their cause as pointed out. They know what death looks like in the flesh.

8 Obdicut  Wed, May 4, 2011 11:50:21am

Hey look, it's a reasonable Republican commenting on this:

Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., chairman of the intelligence committee, earlier put out a statement opposing the release. He told Fox News he's using a simple test -- if the release of the photo would make a village elder in Afghanistan less cooperative and less likely to snitch to U.S. troops about potential attacks, then he's against it.

So shut up, Sarah. Lives are on the line.

Oh good grief another damn liberal posing as a Republican. No to him, no to Romney.

I’m convinced that 720Hawk [freeper poster who put up the post about huntsman] is a hit-and-run GOP troll.
All he does is post hit pieces against Sarah and threads promoting RINOs like Huntsman. He’s got a November 2008 sign-up date too.

So? The only people pushing for this guy are the Democrat tentacles in the Republican party..

This is turning into a major nightmare. We just may lose this election if folks like this are serious about running. I mean so far he, Gary Johnson and Fred Karger are announced candidates. Cain might have some traction if he announces. Romney, Huckster, and Trump are pure loser candidates......Michele Bachman is great but she really needs to announce soon. Sarah is our most possible win and she has not made up her mind yet. Come on Sarah or we are doomed!!!!! If we lose 2012 than we are a complete disaster as a party when we can’t even beat Obama.

I did google it and you are right. What a loser. Can’t even finish high school????? How embarrassing would that be during the debate. Even Obama could say, “Well I went to Harvard and some say that I may have not done that well but you could not even manage to finish high school.” That would be quite a disaster.

He get .05% in the primaries and will drop out after a couple weeks. He’s got the same appeal as hair lice.

The serious news about Bin Laden has really hurt the already ailing Republicans. They've become so invested in silly conspiracy theories and reality show candidates that serious issues make them look foolish. The first Republican debate is tomorrow and nobody wants to participate....
Republican debate will feature depleted lineup

In the latest chapter in the sputtering start to the 2012 White House race, Republicans will hold their first candidate debate on Thursday with a depleted line-up without the party's most high-profile contenders.
....
Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who has formed a committee to raise money and explore a possible run, is skipping the event. Four other potential candidates who score well in early opinion polls -- Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, Donald Trump and Newt Gingrich -- have made no move to run.
...
Joining Pawlenty at the debate will be U.S. Representative Ron Paul, former Senator Rick Santorum, former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson and former Godfather's Pizza executive Herman Cain.

One of the influential adults in my life when I was a teen was a man that, in the late 70's, grew his hair long and played in a band. Like Huntsman, he cut it off and served a mission.

He was a great teacher and a good father and husband. I think, though, that some part of him still wanted to rock out. (And I'll bet it sometimes did.)

Speaking of photoshopping, I have that professional re-touching ad up above, and I'm trying to decide what you would need it for?

Because your children are insufficiently attractive?
For online dating where you plan on never actually meeting the person so they aren't disappointed when you don't look like that?
So you can have a picture of a person who looks like you wished you looked hanging on the wall?

It probably doesn't help that I just listened to TLC's Unpretty.

I know this is ot, but I saw this on dkos, and just had to share.

"Karen Santorum says the 2012 presidential race, in which her husband, Rick, is a likely Republican candidate, is "not just another political race. It’s about going on to the battlefield and defending God’s truth in the world." [...]

She says the couple has "prayed a lot about the decision" and the former senator's decision--apparently she's referring to his forming a presidential exploratory committee--"is what God wants."

Did God also suggest he wear a diaper with a prostitute? Just curious.

I'm pretty sure that was David Vitter from LA that likes the hookers and diapers.

Luckily Romney and Huntsman seem to have next to no chance of winning the primaries, and I have no clue who Daniels is so I think that by default rules him out also....

Please keep in mind part of the reason GHWB lost was that we had a third party candidate running who took much of his support.

There are no signs of any major far left win third party candidate showing up to drain votes from Obama...

Based on some of the descriptions of the OBL photo that have been coming out, I wonder which media (TV news, newspapers, magazines, etc) would have actually published it.

[Link: whitehouse.blogs.cnn.com...]

Photos of OBLs body at a hangar after he was brought back to Afghanistan. This is the most recognizable with a clear picture of his face. The picture is gruesome because he has a massive open head wound across both eyes. It’s very bloody and gory.

& from FOX:

Fox News has learned that the image shows a large, open gunshot wound on bin Laden's forehead, revealing brain matter. A senior U.S. official who has had access to the images said one of bin Laden's eyes is open while the other is "completely gone."

I suppose they could have covered the top half of his face/head with a black bar, or perhaps blurred most of the image out, but once you're obscuring so much he's unrecognizable, what's really the point?

Pretty much on topic...

Apparently scientists are using too many syllables:

Climate scientists told to 'stop speaking in code'

Scientists at a major conference on Arctic warming were told Wednesday to use plain language to explain the dramatic melt in the region to a world reluctant to take action against climate change.

An authoritative report released at the meeting of nearly 400 scientists in Copenhagen showed melting ice in the Arctic could help raise global sea levels by as much as 5 feet this century, much higher than earlier projections.

James White, of the University of Colorado at Boulder, told fellow researchers to use simple words and focus on the big picture when describing their research to a wider audience. Focusing too much on details could blur the basic science, he said: "If you put more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, it will get warmer."

Prominent U.S. climate scientist Robert Corell said researchers must try to reach out to all parts of society to spread awareness of the global implications of the Arctic melt.

"Stop speaking in code. Rather than 'anthropogenic,' you could say 'human caused,'" Corell said.

And another *facepalm*

How ironic of Obama - he plans a release of 2000+ so-called detainee abuse photos, rescinds a ban on US military coffin pictures, in the name of "transparency"....but yet our own personal and private American interests are deemed less important than "Muslim sensitivities"....unbelievable how un-American Obama is.

I am now officially ashamed he is the president. At least with Bush, he believed in American exceptionalism, and that certain things we do and did as a country are sacrosanct. Not with Obama. Everything other non-American, pro-minority cultures do is above American interests.

2012 cannot come soon enough...I have a strong feeling the myopic middle and sheepish left will regret annointing this joker into office, if they haven't already woken up and realized it.

But, why should this be a surprise to anyone? Obama likes to apologetically bow before dictators in photo ops around the globe, and he promptly issued subpoenas for CIA personnel shortly after taking the oath of office and blasted them and their alleged torture techniques...the same agency and techniques responsible for fingering Bin Laden's runner network and his getting intel on his location in Pakistan. I guess Obama has no problem treating them and our military like red headed step children...taking credit for their hard work when it's convenient to him. Did anyone notice how many times he say "I" or "my" in his Bin Laden speech the other night?

How incredibly self-serving and arrogant!!!! Absolutely unbelievable.

The difference between the Abu Ghrab photos and the unreleased OBL death photos is that one shows criminal acts where many, if not all, involved were investigated and punish, where the other just shows a fucked-up face from a bullet or two. There is no comparison between the two (unless you have advanced ODS). Won't be surprised, though, if that comparison shows up on the usual suspects' blogs.

Photographs acquired by Reuters and taken about an hour after the U.S. assault on Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad in Pakistan show three dead men lying in pools of blood, but no weapons.

[Link: www.boston.com...]

Having seen unreleased photos of Osama bin Laden’s corpse, US Senator Scott Brown does not believe pictures of the dead terrorist leader should be made public, the Massachusetts Republican said in an interview on NECN.

“Let me assure you that he is dead, that bin Laden is dead — I have seen the photos,” Brown said hours before President Obama declared he would not release the images.

....

Asked directly if the pictures, which have been described as bloody and gruesome, should be made available for everyone, Brown told NECN: “If it’s to sell newspapers or just have a news cycle story, no, I don’t think they should be released. We’re still dealing with the sensitivities of the Muslim and Arab world. And we still have men and women serving throughout the world.”

I'd assume that was just a toy, left out on the floor, that the man collapsed on top of. There were multiple families, including children that lived in the compound.

Oh yeah, just like how wingnuts go on and on about how liberals are 'filled with hate'. Total projection, of course.

In such cases I really think these people know, deep down, that they're the hatefilled unhappy ones. That only makes them spew more hatred though.

Non-existent "whitey tape" is non-existent.

Typically bigots loath black women. They already loath educated white women. But they hate educated black women the most. Especially since these very same bigots are the most ignorant citizens in America.

Osama bin Laden's daughter witnessed his death, says Pakistani official:
[Link: www.guardian.co.uk...]

Osama bin Laden's 12-year-old daughter watched as her father was shot dead by American special forces, a senior Pakistani intelligence official has told the Guardian.

The girl, who was found at the scene of the raid by Pakistani security services, is being cared for at a military hospital having been wounded in the attack. She has been questioned about the sequence of events during the raid last weekend.

The official said Pakistani intelligence services, who are holding 11 other survivors of the deadly raid on Bin Laden's Pakistani hiding place, would not allow their interrogation by US officials.

"That would occur only if there was written assent from their country of origin. We are yet to receive any request to my knowledge, but given the [critical] statements coming out of Washington and the fact that [the raid] was not an operation we were involved in, we would not accept," he said.

Poor kid.

From that same Guardian article:

On Tuesday, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement saying that "the family members of Osama bin Laden [are] all in safe hands ... in the best possible facilities," and that "as per policy" the relatives would be handed over to their countries of origin.

This, however, may not be easy. One problem is their unclear legal status. The Saudi Arabian citizenship of the al-Qaida leader was withdrawn in 1994 following his violent criticism of the kingdom's royal family leaving the exact nationality of his children unclear. Two young sons of Bin Laden are believed to be among the survivors held by the Pakistanis.

It is also far from certain that either Yemen or Saudi Arabia would be willing to accept the repatriation of Bin Laden's family members or their friends. Nor is their identification a simple task. Some of the children found at the compound may be those of the two brothers killed in the raid, and may have Pakistani nationality. The youngest child found at the compound is two.

MIKE MALLOY: I have heard some commentators talk about the fact that, all the lives that have been lost in this war on terror, and now the summary execution of the person responsible. But as soon as I heard that, I thought, well, bin Laden really didn't have anything to do -- did he? -- with Iraq. And I think his only relationship with Afghanistan was geographical.

But Iraq -- all the death in Iraq was not caused by bin Laden. The death in Iraq was caused by George W. Bush. Five thousand Americans, tens of thousands permanently damaged and shot to pieces, a million Iraqis dead -- that wasn't bin Laden. That was George Bush. So when does Seal Unit 6, or whatever it's called, drop in on George Bush? Bush was responsible for a lot more death, innocent death, than bin Laden. Wasn't he, or am I wrong here?

Sarah Palin's tribute to the military becomes a nasty attack on Obama

But what really stood out was the fact that Palin's speech -- delivered less than 24 hours after the death of Osama bin Laden was announced, and full of all kinds of congratulations and praise to the troops and commanders who made it happen -- deliberately omitted, in about as obvious and as graceless and clumsy a fashion imaginable, President Obama from the congratulations.

Indeed, she instead congratulated George W. Bush. And then she went on to attack Obama for his foreign policy -- and worse yet, imply to the gathered soldiers that he was undeserving of their loyalty -- without, in fact, ever once even enunciating his name.

Five thousand Americans, tens of thousands permanently damaged and shot to pieces, a million Iraqis dead -- that wasn't bin Laden. That was George Bush. So when does Seal Unit 6, or whatever it's called, drop in on George Bush?

Yes, and I find that pretty repugnant. I agree invading Iraq was a bad decision, but equating W. to Osama Bin Laden, and suggesting he should be "dropped in" on in a similar manner, is pure insanity.

Mike Huckabee's Revealing Holocaust Gaffe

The former governor thinks he can get away with comparing higher taxes to the Holocaust because of his “unequalled friendship” with Israel. But is he really an ally of the Jewish community?

After all he’s done for Israel, Mike Huckabee does not appreciate being criticized for comparing American debt to the Holocaust. Thus on Tuesday, when the Anti-Defamation League’s Abraham Foxman chastised him for doing just that, he responded with anger and a hint of menace, saying, “Israel and Jewish people need to make friends, not insult the ones they have.” Such words are unlikely to convince many Jews that Huckabee is their ally. The statement should serve as a reminder that the aggressive Zionism of the Christian right does not translate into sensitivity toward broader Jewish concerns.

Huckabee just revealed how special he thinks he is. "Israel and Jewish people" have no right to criticize him, because he is one of their few friends. If one of my friends said that to me, I'd have one less friend and be grateful to have one less false friend.

Fascinating Hypocrisy watch at LGF.

There is a much updinged and discussed post about $cientologists and how they should not be bashed because mainstream Protestants are worse.

Where are the concern police worried about bashing all Protestants?

Here are some differences between $cientology and mainstream Protestants?

Well here are some differences between $cientologists and mainstream Protestants:

1. Mainstream Protestants put their belief systems upfront. You do not need to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to find out the "whole story" of Jesus. What an amazing piece of garbage this entire post is.

2. Mainstream Protestants don't hound people who leave the faith or try to destroy their lives and livelihoods.

3. Mainstream Protestants do not use a reinforced form of delusion called auditing that only causes the subject to imagine he has super-powers while all the while getting private dirt on him.

4. Mainstream Protestants do not split up families or declare people suppressive personalities and then strip someone from the only people they know. They aslo don't set up an indentured lifestyle that forces people into a situation where such leverage is possible.

5. Mainstream Protestants generally don't make claims about the nature of the universe that are instantly seen as bunk. I am pointedly not including the fundies as mainstream, but seriously, if there were multiple megaton nuclear blasts on the Earth to release all of those angry thetans, that would have left a geological record. Of course, the fact that they were shipped here in rocket powered DC-9s only adds to the sense of giddy delusion.

I could go on, but so many here are so reality challenged it would not matter.

The thesis boils down to saying that any sort of judgement of any belief system is wrong because all belief systems are equally wrong. The writer bashes $cientology accordingly but, like all beliefs, they are equally contemptible and not the "real problem."

This is relativist nonsense taken to its logical extreme coupled with the arrogance of someone who can not understand the need ofr a spiritual connection and spewing his own hatred of such things all while pretending falsely to be ohh so enlightened and tolerant. It is smug, arrogant and ignorant with a heavy dose of new-agey pap and patting oneself on the back for being ohh so enlightened.

It then goes on to attack Protestants all while claiming we should not hate. A proper statement might be that the extreme hate filled fundamentalist strain of Christianity that the GOP pushes and that is growing ever more powerful in the US is a deeply dangerous problem. Instead what was shown was deep contempt for all religion.

I am getting more and more disgusted with my fellow lizards.

No, he really doesn't. He points out what you have on many occasions, in actually a more limited fashion-- he talks about the protestant socon power structure as the real threat. He qualifies protestant with 'megachurch' or socon every time he speaks about it, except when he talks about how protestantism is more mainstream, therefore giving cover to its more extreme versions.

You were incorrect when you said he said that Scientology shouldn't be bashed, and you were incorrect when you said he was attacking protestantism in general.

re: #386 LudwigVanQuixote

No you just couldn't say it to clarify yourself until you thought it was safe.

But that's simply not true, Ludwig. You asked if I thought the temple mount was Jewish, and I responded in the affirmative long, long before CL said anything other than to tell you how deeply you'd offended her.

And for the record, the mosques are Muslim, but they have no right to be on someone else's holiest spot.

This is where we disagree. They have the right of antiquity and the right of religious importance. I disagree with you that religiously important monuments can't occupy the same space. That is the sum total of our disagreement, for which you accused me of turning my back on the Jewish people, which is an insult I will never, ever forgive.

The mosques will stay where they are until Moshiach decides what to do with them.

And given that Moshiach will rebuild the Third Temple, it makes pretty clear what he will do with them. They can't occupy the same spot.

No, you're ignoring the actual intent of his essay, probably because you're fighting with him right now. Again, he always talked about the megachurches and the prosperity gospels or the Socons, pointing out that the former are a scam like Scientology and the latter politically powerful, unlike Scientology, and culturally powerful, unlike Scientology. The anti-gay propaganda of the Scientologists is terrible, but it is minute in volume compared to that coming from the socons.

I don't consider you a good judge of what is 'weak' or not, Ludwig. You really have lost a huge amount in my eyes by accusing me of turning my back on the Jewish people. You know how grave that insult is; you can't expect me to still respect you after you said that.

Are you claiming that title for your #364? I don't see that as an "anti-broad-brush" post. I see it as an attack on a Page from a fellow commenter with whom you had a disagreement a few days ago, probably motivated at least in part by said disagreement. The down ding is for this part:

mainstream Protestants

and this part:

What an amazing piece of garbage this entire post is.

and this part:

I could go on, but so many here are so reality challenged it would not matter.

and this part:

This is relativist nonsense taken to its logical extreme coupled with the arrogance of someone who can not understand the need ofr a spiritual connection and spewing his own hatred of such things all while pretending falsely to be ohh so enlightened and tolerant. It is smug, arrogant and ignorant with a heavy dose of new-agey pap and patting oneself on the back for being ohh so enlightened.

We're not talking about any sudden event.

Any Jew who does not understand the centrality of the Temple to the people to the extent that he is OK with others just claiming the space for their own, has turned his back on the people.

What a very, very odd decision on your part. You really do seem to believe only religious Jews are actually Jews.

That's sad.

I don't have any contempt for Judaism. Earlier today, I wrote a post about how Judaism was a good religion because of its aspects of non-prosletyzing and recognition of the nature of rules as applying to the people, and not others.

I'm disagreeing with you about what Jewish identity is. It's a common debate among Jews.

I'm also not okay with 'giving away' the temple mount. I think that it needs to be open to all worshipers, which is sadly impossible due to Muslim fanatics.

Somehow that becomes me giving it away, because I don't want to see the Dome of the Rock destroyed.

The difference is that she knows who the Temple mount belongs to and does not go and claim the Muslims have any right to it.

They don't.

The difference is that she prays with every Amidah to restore the Temple.

The difference is that she has a son defending the land in the IDF.

The difference between you and me on this is, that I would be ok with the mosques if the sacrifice that was made by the people for peace were even recognized and we actually got peace. You don't even see it as a sacrifice.

Well mostly because as an avowed atheist, you don't believe in Moshiach and for you to say such a thing would be insulting.

Also, she is not unaware of the nationalist argument. She believes the religious argument supersedes the nationalist argument.

Both the religious and nationalist argument recognize the rights of Jews to Jewish things.

O-kay. The practical effect is rather the same. She's okay with them remaining on the site for an indefinite period of time. So am I.

You see a Jewish spot as something for all worshipers. No Obdi. It is Jewish as the Vatican is Catholic or Mecca is Muslim, but only we are asked to pretend it is not - and only ham bagels don't see any problem with that.

Yes, I think that Jews could be gracious and magnamious enough to allow Muslims to worship at the Dome of the Rock, even near the Holiest of Holies, because Jews are pretty awesomely tolerant. Unfortunately, the current state of radicalized Islam makes that impossible.

Somehow, my view of Jews as being that tolerant transforms itself into an insult to Jews to you.

Side note, again: Catholicism has a much more disparate idea of holiness. St. Peters and the church of the Laternan are holy sites, but in no way comparable to Mecca or to the Temple Mount.

I don't know why you think repeating 'ham bagel'-- which, again, is really unwise for you to say-- is going to have any effect on me. All it does is remove you as someone who's opinion I hold in high regard. You've said it once; as I said, it's not something I can ever forgive.

I understand how important Judaism is to you, and you normally bear it well and do credit to observant Jews. But the ugliness of rejecting other Jews because of your own definition of sufficient Jewish identity is an old, but still painful, scar.

Most of your characterizations of me have been incorrect. The Rebbe, of Blessed Memory, constantly spoke of the need to rebuild the Temple, and he urged every Jew to take an active role in its reconstruction.

Did he tell Jews to storm the Temple Mount and tear down the Dome of the Rock with their bare hands?

Not at all.

He urged every one to perform mitzvos, light Sabbath candles, put on tefillin, study the Scriptures and the Talmud and works of Hasidism, keep kosher, observe the festivals, give tzedakah (charity), love your neighbor as yourself. He urged everyone, Jews and non-Jews to uphold justice and perform acts of kindness.

I don't think that their presence there represents a sacrifice of identity. In fact, I think destroying them would destroy a part of Jewish identity; the history of when Jerusalem was overrun. It's not a happy part of Jewish history, but it did happen. It'd be wonderful if Muslims in the Middle East progressed to a point where they were thankful for the sacrifice of Jews allowing them to stand, instead of demanding more, but that is, for the moment, a pipe dream.

We let them have it for peace.

We are not getting peace.

But 'them' isn't just the radicals. Those spots are holy to the moderate Muslims as well. That's a large part of the problem with your argument.

We get none of the respect that others demand.

Muslims pray towards Mecca. They do not pray towards Jerusalem. The mosques there were not particularly special until they became a political focus with the birth of Israel. Everyone knows this. So of course on the Muslim end it is a political and Palestinian issue.

There can be more than one holy site for a religion. You're wrong that it wasn't very important before the birth of Israel. There's no real other way to say it; it was an important holy site to Muslims since Saladin, at least. I don't know why you think otherwise.

The Dome of the Rock is theirs, though. Which is on the Temple Mount. So, in the end, it's not as simple as 'ours' or 'theirs'.

And again:

Most of your characterizations of me have been incorrect. I don't have contempt for Judaism, I did say that the temple mount was Jewish before CuriousLurker did, and I'm not find with giving the Temple Mount away. Please ask yourself why, in order to attack me on this, it is necessary to misrepresent my positions.

You have yet to acknowledge that you were mistaken in any of that. That's unfortunate.

"It's part of the mission." It's amazing how much of her psychology Sarah Palin reveals, with her word salads. Wow. She fantasizes that she's in the military. And, no doubt, she fantasizes that Katie Couric, quavering with fear, is interviewing Sarah "Barracuda" Palin, the leader of Seal Team Six.

John McCain really should apologize publicly for his failure to properly vet Ms. Palin, before he chose her for his running mate. Even as we celebrate our military's achievements, as we should, it is an uncomfortable truth that Sarah Palin came close to real political power in 2008, and may be on the ticket (either Pres or Vice Pres) in 2012. Until America moves beyond this farce, this vulnerability is there for the whole world to see, and I'm not happy about it.

re: #442 LudwigVanQuixote

You sure this isn't about your ego Stevo?

You sure this whole exchange between you and everyone else in the mix isn't about your ego, Ludwig? Your doggedness and tenacity serve you well most of the time, but you're being more than a bit illogical about all this.

For example, WTF is up with the "ham bagel" slam you're throwing at Obdi? If that's your idea of calling him a Jew "oreo", then you've lost what respect I have for you, because slurs like that aren't right, no matter who says it or who it's against. As for your position that, more or less, Muslims should be denied access to the Dome of the Rock because Jews were there first at the Temple Mount and because some Muslims would like to ground Israel to ash, it's patently absurd and, in my opinion, borderline bigotry.

At this point, you probably don't give two shits about what I think of you, but I am sorely disappointed in you, because I know you can do and be better than that.

re: #403 Obdicut

Actually, I would hope you would. Respect comes not from thinking that a man is perfect; that's not going to happen. It comes from recognition that whatever faults he may have, whatever wrong he may have done you, he has good points that are just too good to set aside.

Ludwig has damned me most vigorously. I'm hurt, but I still respect him. Intemperate side notwithstanding.

Charles, I am more than a little shocked to see you write this.

As far as I am concerned here the issue is whether or not any religious group has a right to stake a claim to another religious group's holiest sites over the objections of that first group.

There is nothing more to it than that in this discussion. Yes the various discussions have spiraled all over the place the past several days, but this is really the core. A sacrifice for peace yielded no peace, and by claiming that others have rights to the sacrifice ignores the existence of it in the first place.

I am offended by people saying that anyone else has a right to my holiest spot. Even without the religious aspect, there is the national point that if we Jews ourselves do not care about the symbols of our culture, how can we expect others to?

I understand why the state of Israel did not remove the mosques. I understand the vain hope that this would bring peace as well as a certain secular/religious split in the Jewish people.

I am offended that I am being called all sorts of names because others here demand I have to accept false claims. I have seen people I thought were friends be appalled that I should claim such a simple thing - something that everyone knows is true.

But that is not the point.

Right now I am asking you man to man, friend to friend as someone who has spent many hours sticking up for you and never failed to do so, Are you denying my right to be offended at this? Why should my people just lump it? Why are our claims less than others in our own land at our most sacred spot? This is the sub context of the message here.

Apparently to claim that the Temple is Jewish property alone makes me Kahanist and like Pam Gellar and a "fake." On the contrary, it makes me honest. I would argue that a church built on Mecca had no right to be there either.

I am asking if you are enforcing a certain denial of the truth because it is currently not popular with some posters.

I can not believe you honestly are telling me that. And if you are telling me that, I don't want to be here, no matter how many friends I have here or how much I have enjoyed posting through the years.

OK so first off, I have never ever said that Pakistanis were scum.

So hopefully that is off of your plate.

That sounds like something WUB would say I said. Of course calling me a racist is particularly crass and vile. I write endlessly on the horrible racism of the modern GOP and you cheer. I despise racism and always have. What is it ok for the PA to be racist? Is it racist of me to point out that certain protected racists are racist?

As to the Palestinians, well their democratically elected government just re-avowed perpetual war with Israel. Read the posts from today about the "reconcilement" between the PA and Hamas.

The Palestinian's elected government has the genocide of all Jews in its charter. What should I call them?

The nice terrorists of the PA murdered a Jew who dared to pray at Joseph's tomb and then burnt the site.

Then there is the murder of the Foegel family. Sweets were passed out to celebrate.

What exactly do you expect me to call a medieval culture that revels in murder?

While we are at, it shall we discuss their treatment of women and gay people? Shall we discuss how they cheer when they launch rockets indiscriminantly day after day at civilians?

Somehow when I go and call the modern GOP up and up evil (and they are) that is ok, but pointing out these evils and being equally appalled is not?

I consider all hateful racist groups evil - and trying hard for genocide and putting it in your actual charter is pretty racist no?

I'm not going to be dragged into this mess. I'm simply telling you that you're alienating a lot of people with your posts. People who would otherwise be your friends, but you're losing your way, and you don't see it.

You're creating a lot of extra work for me, because you refuse to back down off the ledge, and it's getting very wearisome.

re: #479 LudwigVanQuixote

Maybe not racist, but given the history of what has been and is on the Temple Mount site, certainly bigoted. Palestinians do not represent all Muslims, just as Israelis do not represent all Jews...and you know it. The Temple Mount may be Judaism's most holy place, but the Dome of the Rock has it's place, just as any Christian churches or sites in Jerusalem (and throughout Israel) do.

It'd be nice for anyone to not be squabbling over the matter, either here or in Israel, but human nature is what it is and I don't see the human race improving to that point any time soon, unfortunately.

No, but I'd put him on the level of Jim d'Hooft (DERP) or Pamela Geller - these aren't household names to most people, either.

Like I said, the Right is far more odious than the Left, now, but to totally ignore the idiocy on the Left isn't fair, either.
