I get back from Black Panther, try to catch up, and end up CL’ed at the bottom of the stairs. So here’s my post:

But perhaps we need to ask ourselves, What is it about White culture that keeps producing this violence?
- Maybe it’s in the lyrics of their “Country Music”, where bad thing after bad thing befalls them.
- Maybe it’s in their clothes, the Dockers cinched tight around their waists.
- Maybe it’s in their slang - “run and gun”, “shooting the rapids”, “hot as a pistol”.
- Maybe it’s in their Powerpoint presentations, with all those “bullet points”.

Why does the White Community so often choose hustlers and conmen as leaders?

Hey, you’re white - tell my why your people keep doing this over and over again, killing their own people?

I’ve not read the whole thing yet, but the gist seems to be some white people are afraid that their “culture” is being replaced by the culture of other ethnic groups somehow, even as they manage to make friends with people from other cultures.

There’s also the belief that white (as in European) culture is superior to all others, which has been a thread running through history since the Roman Empire if not earlier.

Though I am white, I don’t fear demographic changes because (1) I realize culture does not belong to just one ethnic group but to all people living within that culture and (2) I have lived as a minority in two different countries already, and it was NBD. But I can see how others with a much more limited exposure to the world outside their own little bubbles could feel threatened. The proper response is to adapt, though, not try to battle the inevitable with violence and hate. The trouble is, no one seems to be helping these scared, frustrated white people cope with the inevitable societal changes, especially Trump and the GOP, and the entire RWNJ media machine.

Obama winning the presidency twice was the clarion call for these people. It’s like an entire cohort suddenly woke up and realized, “Holy shit, we’re not in charge anymore!” and got very, very scared because their entire world view got pulverized into dust.
