McCain’s point was more that it was a diplomatic mistake to broadcast such intent, to talk about it. He said he’d get him, but thought telegraphing the punch wasn’t smart.

Smart or not, in hindsight it makes the strike all the more awesome. “Guess what punk, this is how I’m going to punch you.” *PUNCH*
