Nope. NM does not require proof of lawful residence. Despite the efforts of our new Republican governor, we still issue licenses to illegal residents.

There are very few states that require proof of lawful residence to issue drivers’ licenses/IDs, so the Alabama cops could toss you in jail for having a valid out-of-state ID if you don’t look American enough to them.
