C-span is showing Eisenhower’s acceptance speech at the 1956 Republican convention. I doubt any sentiments like these will be delivered from this year’s GOP podium:

The good old days before Nixon decided to sell his soul in the Southern Strategy. I’ll always contend that embracing that is more damaging to Nixon’s legacy than Watergate and the subsequent cover up. The Southern Strategy is when the GOP began the downhill trend they’ve gotten to today.
