I hope this doesn’t sound ageist… maybe it is, I don’t know… but 70 is right around the age when people start to enter the age where retirement is probably the best option.

Not all people, of course. I’ve known 70 year olds who were not only very capable but still pushing research, writing papers, doing creative stuff.

It’s all idiosyncratic, of course. Each person’s life arc is unique.

But I noticed during the campaign how often Trump would repeat himself. Some of that is his gimmick. But if you listen to his recordings from 20, 30 years ago you hear a more articulate man than what one hears today. One that doesn’t repeat so much.

Even if Trump doesn’t suffer from dementia, even the healthiest person as they age lose plasticity in regards to thinking new thoughts. We all have to face that.

I’m not that old… but I know I’ve lost quantitative thinking capability. A while back I found my notes from a general relativity seminar I took back in college and I wondered who wrote those notes…

Anyway, yes, Trump is going to really be hit with an accelerated aging process that may be a surprise to him.

OTOH, he may shake off the burdens that caused all those gray hairs in Bush/Obama. Both of them probably grieved when they had to face the families of fallen soldiers. Trump may be sociopathic enough to not really care. I guess we’ll find out.

I have to concede while I happily supported Clinton, I was worried that our two most popular candidates were both going to be 70+ their first year in office. It’s why I think peopel floating BErnie around in 2020 are nucking futs.
