IMHO if “enhanced techniques” are really necessary they will be found to be necessary “in the field” and they will be used, no matter what political stink about them has gone on before, and it will be up to the professionalism of the military to use them only to the extent necessary. We might never hear of it. Or hear of it much later than when it happens.

But if one is seriously opposed to these things, one of the best things to do is to support a very competent and professional military.
