Heh. The theological problem was that he was consecrated in defiance of Pope John Paul II. It was ‘fixed’ by him dying and Benedict XVI ascending to the Papal throne, and lifting the excommunication.

Ah. Sounds like the consecration of a bishop that was “valid but not licit”. Sort of thing can be undone, but the beneficiary would usually have to eat a yard of shit.
