Um, no. Congress is giving Amtrak all the money it requested for rail safety programs and the House Transportation Committee has scheduled a hearing on this derailment. If the NTSB is calling for safety improvements, then there’s a good chance the money will be found. But it must be noted that such funds would be an additional request, and not the restoration of funds cut by Congress.

I dunno, your party is dead set on killing AMTRAK.
That’s why they cut and cut and cut.
AMTRAK has years and years of maintenance to do. You can’t really believe that all of these cuts do not effect safety.
