Tragic, though, the way the issue has come again. It would seem to support a cyclical rather than a linear explanation of human history.

I’m not sure if I’m on the same page with the terminology here, but my take is that human history, so far, is the story of the linear overcoming the cyclical.

Militias are the reversion to tribalism which, in its defense, has been the evolutionary history of humans.
