And of course ignoring that an attack against the First Family could lead to potential blackmail, extortion, threats that directly affect US domestic or foreign policy (or both), if captured by kidnappers, or the outright attempts at assassination because of who they are related to. The First Family is a target. Period.

This argument is a conscious appeal to the flat-out dumbest segment of the right wing base, the people to whom “critical thinking” is a bad thing. The NRA producers of this ad know better, I’m absolutely certain - they know exactly how deceptive and nonsensical the “hypocrisy” argument is. They’re using it as a tool to rile up the unthinking rube contingent among their membership.
